Gate valves use a sliding gate or wedge mechanism to start or stop fluid flow. When fully open, the valve provides a straight-through passage, allowing minimal resistance and pressure drop. Because of this, gate valves are widely used in isolation services — but they are not designed for throttling or flow modulation.
