Valve lifecycle and obsolescence management.

Control valve management for oil, gas and process plants in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait and Bahrain. We survey your valves, rank them by risk, and plan spares, repairs and replacements before an obsolete valve stops the plant.

Why plan the life of your valves

A typical plant has thousands of valves from many makers, installed over decades. Some makers have closed or stopped supporting older models, spare parts get harder to find, and records drift away from what is really installed. The first sign of trouble is often an unplanned shutdown waiting for a part.

What the service covers

  • Valve survey: tag, make, model, size, rating, materials and actuator for each valve, checked against your records
  • Criticality ranking: which valves would stop production or affect safety if they failed
  • Obsolescence review: valves and actuators that are no longer supported, and parts with long lead times
  • Spares plan: what to hold on site, what to order before a shutdown, and what can be bought when needed
  • Repair or replace: a recommendation for each problem valve, with replacements matched to existing face-to-face dimensions
  • Shutdown packages: valves, spares and testing grouped around your turnaround date

Control valves and relief valves

Control valves and pressure relief valves need the most attention. Control valves wear in their trim and packing and drift out of calibration. Relief valves must be tested and recertified on a schedule set by your inspection plan. We include both in the survey and the plan.

Replacing obsolete valves

Where a valve can no longer be supported, Young & Cunningham can supply a replacement gate, globe, ball, butterfly, check or relief valve to the same connections and length, with automation if needed. This keeps pipework and supports unchanged and shortens the shutdown.

Questions buyers ask

What is control valve management?

It is a planned way of looking after a plant's valves over their life: knowing what is installed, how critical each valve is, what condition it is in, and when it should be repaired, upgraded or replaced.

What do you do about obsolete valves?

We identify valves whose maker, model or parts are no longer supported, and propose a replacement with the same face-to-face dimensions and connections where possible, so that pipework does not need to change.

Do you only work with Young & Cunningham valves?

No. A valve survey covers every make on the plant. Replacements and spares are supplied through Young & Cunningham or matched to the original equipment.
